I am so moved by this, Allison, and so grateful to have known you as a writing coach. First Draft has meant—means—so much to me, and I will miss your presence. I wish you the best in law school and beyond.
Allison, your writing and teaching have changed me more than once, and you've always made me want to do the work to be a better writer. (Andrea too!) I will miss Writing Class Radio, but I can't wait to see your What's Next.
Good luck Allison! I loved hearing that you're going to law school after an already accomplished career. There was a recent graduate at University of Miami's Law School that graduated undergrad there 40 years ago. Woman changing the world!
Andrea, this is a new chapter for you too and also an exciting time in your life. Looking forward to more on Substack from you.
GHA! Allison, this is so beautiful. Our stories are similar, and I've always looked to you as a sort of mentor through grief. I'll never forget the time you told me I didn't need to read the "grief books," and it was like a 10lb weight was lifted off my shoulders. Love you and good luck in your next adventure!
Good luck to you Allison!!! I’ve been thinking about my great times in the class with you both and recording the podcast episode. I’ve also been thinking about rejoining. Although I’d been a freelance writer for decades, I didn’t write personal essays because they were personal. The class helped me delve very deeply into writing about my own experiences and feelings and getting personal essays out there with more confidence (and faster) than if I’d done it alone. You ladies rock!
Allison — I wanted to be surprised about law school, but honestly, I’m not 😂 You are so incredibly brave and always do what’s right for you. Every single time. I am just overflowing with love and admiration for you.
Andrea — I’m SO happy to hear the ride isn’t over with you yet!!
The end of an era! There’s no place like Writing Class Radio.
Thanks Aaron!!!
Allison, good luck and I hope law is a good fit for you (it wasn't for me). Andrea, if you want help, I volunteer!
Mika!!! Come to class Saturday and let's talk!!!

Rona, RIGHT!?!?!
End of an era!! And an exciting new beginning! Well done, you - both of you!!
Thank you!!!
I met you both at the Sanibel Writers’ Conference. Such great chemistry and great advice for writers. Wishing the best for both of you.
Ohhh, I’ll be there by myself this year. Please come say hi!

We’re no longer recording podcasts, but the classes will continue.

Thank you Lisa for this sweet reply. It’s true, no one is surprised Allison would get herself into law school at 58.
